Huda Beauty Liquid Matte - Medusa

I'm really loving liquid lipsticks right now and when I see a brand I haven't tried before offering a full range of them I get really excited. One brand I have heard of and seen in Harrods a few times is Huda Beauty. I haven't tried any of their products before and saw that they did a good range of makeup. I was at the Huda counter and decided to try one of the liquid lipsticks.

The color I got is called Medusa which is a dusty mauve color. It also comes with a lip liner that can be bought separately, but I just went for the lipstick. The packaging feels amazing and comes with a doe foot applicator for easy application.

The pigment in it was amazing and it just glided onto my lips and dried fairly quick. I really hate mattes that are really drying. Even though this is a matte color, it didn't feel at all dry and felt comfortable on all day. It didn't really need reapplying either which is a bonus.

Medusa is a great color and can be worn as part of many different looks.

So if you haven't tried Huda Beauty yet, I really recommend the brand. Not only do they have a good choice of liquid lipsticks, but they also have eyeshadow and highlighter too.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush - Diffused Heat

Hourglass is a brand that make the most amazing highlighters and blushers. It is a brand I have recently gotten into and after trying their Ambient Lighting Blushers, I was determined to get myself another one in a different color. The color I got was called Diffused Heat, which is a shade of vibrant poppy. This one was £32.00 in Space NK.

The Ambient Lighting Blushers combine the customized lighting effects of Hourglass' Ambient Lighting Powder with a spectrum of breathtakingly modern hues. The pigment in this one is fantastic and I didn't need to use a lot of it on my brush to get the color to show on my cheeks either. It glided smoothly onto my cheeks and gave them this really awesome glow that stayed on all day.

If you haven't tried Hourglass yet, I highly recommend the brand as they make the most amazing face products. None of their products are cheap, but the quality is superb.

Kat Von D Coven Lipstick

Kat Von D brings out the most amazing shades of lipstick. If like me, you love bright and unusual colors, you will love Kat Von D's collection of lip shades. I got one of her Studded Kiss lipsticks in the color Coven, which is a lilac purple.

The great thing about these lipsticks is how pigmented they are. I didn't need to use a lot to get the color to show up and it glided on my lips nicely too. My lips can be a bit dry and this one didn't dry them out at all and stayed on for most of the day, so it didn't need reapplying either.

I've tried the Studded Kiss lipsticks in another color before, so I really wanted to get another one. I just loved the color on too. Purple is such a fab color for lips.

Kat Von D Pastel Goth Palette

I'm a big fan of anything really colorful, so when I saw Kat Von D's Pastel Goth palette I did get quite excited. If you love bright colors you will love this palette. It features 8 mattes in colors that really stand out. The packaging is awesome too. Just by looking at it, you can tell it's going to be a fun palette.

This is the palette that Jeffree Star bashed online. He commented on how the shades are not pastel.

For me personally pastel can mean a few different things. It can mean the traditional pastel shades or it can mean pastels you get in art. I really think the colors in this palette look a lot like soft pastels that you can get from many different art suppliers. So I don't necessarily think just because this palette has pastel in the name it has to mean traditional pastel shades.

I really enjoyed playing with the colors and thought that the pigment was amazing, all blended nicely and I didn't have to use a lot of color to get it to show up. These are mattes and have a really workable texture to them, they aren't at all dry unlike some matte eyeshadows you can find. Plus they didn't crease and stayed on all day.

If you love your color I really recommend getting this palette as you will love it.

Kat Von D Shade And Light Eye Palette

One brand I am loving is Kat Von D and I've only really tried the lip products. I thought they were amazing, so I thought I would check out her eye products too. Kat Von D offers a range of eyeshadows and palettes, one of them being the Shade And Light Eye Palette.

For those of you on Instagram you may be familiar with what went on between Kat Von D and the brand Makeup Revolution. Makeup Revolution is a budget brand that make quite good items and try to dupe higher end ones. Makeup Revolution decided to create their own version of this palette which looks like a straight up copy. This didn't go unnoticed by Kat Von D.

This palette has 12 matte colors in all neutral shades. The colors are separated off into three different color groups allowing you to create a different look with each one. There are no rules in makeup, so you are free to blend them, wear them alone or mix and match the color combinations.

I love creating dramatic looks and this palette is perfect for creating them. I liked to wear the colors together to create one unique look. The paler colors made really good base and highlighter colors. Matte eyeshadows can be drying, but these ones seem to be very good and are not powdery or at all dry. I really don't like eyeshadows that have a powdery texture. They also did a good job of blending together too. Once on they didn't crease or fade and stayed on all day.

My favorite look out of the three was the middle one as I love a matte white color for highlighting. Plus the black is lovely and intense.

Bobbi Brown Bloggers Event At John Lewis

Last week I was invited to a Bobbi Brown bloggers event in John Lewis, Cardiff. The event was all about the Coffee To Cocktails eyeshadow palette which is exclusive to John Lewis. The event was held off the shop floor, upstairs in the coffee shop.

As I arrived at the event I was greeted by the organizers along with some refreshments including a really tasty lemon drizzle cake.

At this event we were shown how to create a day to evening look using the Coffee To Cocktails palette. The look was demonstrated on a model and it really was easy to create a day or evening look. If you love neutrals and browns, this palette will be right up your street. It's exclusive to John Lewis and features 3 eyeshadow colors - cream, brown and dark brown. Along with a small pot of gel eyeliner and a mascara. This is one of those palettes that will suit everyone, and even if you like your eyeshadow very dramatic, you can definitely create a look that stands out with it.

All of us bloggers were also given a goody bag each with some really neat samples in, which I look forward to using.

I really enjoyed the event and seeing how easy it was to create a look with just one eyeshadow palette. Thanks John Lewis and Bobbi Brown.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Aurora Glow Kit

Anastasia Beverly Hills is a brand known for their brow and highlighting products. Last year I tried one of their glow kits and thought it was amazing. Since then, the brand has brought out new glow kits and their latest one is the Aurora Glow Kit. I recently got this one for my birthday and have enjoyed trying out all of the colors in the palette.

The palette features 6 metallic powder highlighters for intense luminosity. The packaging looks amazing too and depending on how the light hits it, it gives off this holographic effect.

The colors in this one include:

  • Eclipse (Pink Champagne Pearl With Peach Reflect)
  • Luna (Mother Of Pearl With Icy Orchid Effect)
  • Spectra (Sparkling Lilac Pearl With Iridescent Blue Green Reflect)
  • Helia (Yellow Gold Pearl With Turquoise Reflect)
  • Orion (Blue Pearl With Purple Amethyst Reflect)
  • Lyra (Rose Gold Pearl With Champagne Orchid Reflect)

With Flash

The colors look amazing in the palette and look even better on. Each one was very pigmented and gave my skin this awesome glow. The highlighters had a really nice soft texture to them too and didn't feel at all dry or powdery.

They didn't fade either and stayed on all day too. Out of all of the colors my favorites had to be Luna, Eclipse and Orion.

Anastasia Beverly Hills make the most amazing highlighter palettes. The next one I want to try is the Moonchild Palette.
