I Heart Makeup Mint Chocolate Palette

Is it possible to buy a makeup palette merely because you like the packaging? It may sound stupid but the answer to that is yes and this is exactly what happened when I discovered the I Heart Makeup Mint Chocolate Palette.

Now, the I Heart Makeup Chocolate Bar Palettes really do catch your eye when you see them. The brand has now brought out a few different ones and the latest one I have tried happens to be the Mint Chocolate Palette. I had seen previews of the packaging on Instagram and was really looking forward to seeing the colors in it. Unfortunately when I saw them I was a bit disappointed.

It has a mix of greens, browns, cream, gold and red in it. As it was a mint palette I was really hoping for a palette with more green tones in it. Maybe some mint shades too. I feel that the brand was trying to make this look a lot like the Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture Palette. While the colors are laid out differently they do look very similar. I know I Heart Makeup and Makeup Revolution are notorious for dupes, but it would have been nice if they came up with something original for once. Why try and make a dupe of a really bad palette.

The infamous Subculture palette

The Mint Chocolate Bar features 16 colors in a mix of matte and shimmer. I'm not sure if the Subculture palette has shimmers too or is just matte, but the palettes do look very similar. At first I wasn't fussed about the colors in Mint Chocolate but after trying them out I found a look I could do with the colors that I would like. The mattes were a bit dry, but the shimmers were much better and I found they blended nicely and stayed on all day without creasing or fading.

I Heart Makeup Chocolate Rose Gold Palette

I Heart Makeup have, over the last year or two brought out a range of chocolate bar themed palettes. One of their latest ones is the Chocolate Rose Gold Palette. The packaging looks good enough to eat and is rose gold colored. When I say it looks good enough to eat, I really do mean it. Unfortunately it isn't chocolate, but it sure does look convincing.

I just love the colors in this palette. Featured are warmer tones such as pinks, browns and golds. With a mix of matte and shimmer, there are plenty of looks to be created.

I did think that the mattes were a bit on the dry side. Not too dry that the colors were impossible to work with, it just meant blending was a bit hard. I did think that the shimmers were much better and easier blend. I have found this with I Heart Makeup's palettes before. The shimmers are alright, but the mattes aren't as good. On the plus side, once on my eyeshadow didn't crease or fade.

I Heart Makeup Peach And Glow

I Heart Makeup seem to be bringing out a lot of chocolate bar themed products. They recently released two new eyeshadow palettes and a recent addition to their chocolate bar face palettes is the Peach And Glow palette. It comes as a peach colored mini chocolate bar and looks good enough to eat.

The palette comes with a highlighter and a separate blush, both in peach toned shades.

Both highlight and blush shades come with a good amount of pigment, plus they blend well. The blush looks more like an ombre blush and works really well when a brush is swirled around in the color to create a unique shade. Or the colors can be worn separately too. I liked to apply the blusher first and then apply the highlighter separately to give my face an awesome looking glow.

For £6.00 this palette really isn't that bad and both blusher and highlighter stayed on all day without any need for reapplying. This one is available at Superdrug and online at TAM Beauty.

I Heart Makeup Light And Glow

I Heart Makeup is the sister brand to Makeup Revolution and features some really fun looking products. They offer a full range of eyeshadow palettes that look like chocolate bars. Not so long ago they released some face palettes that look like bars of chocolate too. The design is just amazing and looks so good I could eat it.

The palette I got is called Light And Glow and is described as a highlighter. In the palette are two different colors - a cream color and a pink. Both can be used together or individually.

I liked to use the colors separately and used the pink as a blush color and then applied the cream color on areas of the face I wanted to highlight.

Both colors gave a nice glow to my face and build up nicely. Once on they didn't need reapplying as the didn't fade.

These aren't the most pigmented highlighters I have tried, but for £6.00 they aren't that bad.

I Heart Makeup Unicorns Heart

Highlighters are all the rage right now and one budget beauty brand I really like is I Heart Makeup. This is the sister brand to Makeup Revolution, and very recently they brought out a brand new highlighter called Unicorns Heart. If you are familiar with I Heart Makeup you will know that they do a range of blushers in heart shaped packaging. Unicorns Heart comes in very similar packaging and is actually a rainbow highlighter. This was £5.00 at TAM Beauty.

I've never used a rainbow highlighter before and the colors do look really interesting. They also look awesome together in the packaging. I guess you can use the colors separately to create different shades of highlight. I like to get my brush and swirl it around each color and then apply to different areas. The great thing about it is, it is really buildable too.

The pigment in this one is good and it gave my skin a really nice glow to it. I just love the packaging too as it reminds me of one of those chocolate gift boxes you can buy.

I Heart Makeup Chocolate Vice Palette

If you read my blog you will know that I'm a fan of I Heart Makeup's Chocolate Bar palettes. The brand have brought out quite a few already and I have now managed to get hold of their Chocolate Vice palette. This is the only one I didn't have and now I have all of the ones they have released so far.

Like the other palettes in the collection this one looks just like a bar of chocolate and is black colored. It features 16 colors in a mix of matte and shimmer shades.

You can create some really awesome looks with this palette. I found that the shimmers were a lot better than the mattes. I've noticed that in all of these chocolate palettes the mattes are a bit on the dry side which makes them a bit awkward to apply and blend. The shimmers are much better and have a nice, soft workable texture to them and blend easily.

The pigment is fairly good too and you can really build up the colors. I didn't have any problems with creasing either and they stayed on all day. My favorite colors in this palette were the dark blue and the golds. The two paler colors - shimmery gold and white worked really well as highlighters and base colors.

This was £7.99 at TAM Beauty.

I Heart Makeup Chocolate And Peaches Palette

I Heart Makeup have released another one of their chocolate bar palettes. The brand has released quite a few already and the latest one is called Chocolate And Peaches. As you can guess from the name, the packaging is peach colored and looks like a chocolate bar. This one features 16 different colors in a mix of matte and shimmery shades.

I've found these palettes to be quite good and I always like it when they release a new one. I found that the shimmers were a lot better than the mattes in this palette. The shimmers had a workable texture to them and the mattes were a bit on the dry side.

I liked to use the paler colors as bases and then build up the darker colors to create different looks. The colors blended really easy and built up to give intense color. They didn't crease or fade either and stayed on all day.

I Heart Makeup Golden Bar

You could say I'm quite a fan of I Heart Makeup's Chocolate Bar palettes. They seem to be bringing out a lot of them lately and when I was shopping in Superdrug last week I noticed a brand new one. It's called the Golden Bar and like the other chocolate bar palettes, this one has very similar packaging, but comes in gold and brown. I've only seen this one in Superdrug and it's not on I Heart Makeup's website, so I'm assuming it's an exclusive to Superdrug.

I just love the packaging of these palettes. They look just like a bar of chocolate, but unfortunately can't be eaten, even though they look good enough to. This palette has 16 shimmery eyeshadows in it, in gold and brown shades. It also has two paler colors in it - a shimmery white and a shimmery nude color.

There is a good amount of pigment in these colors and you can create some fab looks with them. I liked to use the paler colors as bases and then apply other colors on top. Blending was nice and easy too as the texture on the colors was nice and soft. The golds are great for this time of year, especially with the party season quickly approaching.

Once the colors were on they stayed on pretty much all day, as they didn't fade or crease. In this palette I really liked the darker gold shades best, along with the white shimmery color. Although quite a pale color, it made a really nice base and highlighter.
