Makeup Revolution Retro Matte Lip Kits

Earlier this year Makeup Revolution released their version of liquid lip kits. Recently they brought out some new colors and I decided to go and grab them. The colors I got were - Vampire Night (Deep Red), Bow Down (Light Peach), Majesty (Pink Red) and Magnificent (Teal).

The packaging is really nice and in each kit you get a matching lip liner, this is really good as finding a matching lip liner can sometimes be hard work. The lip liners in these ones are very good as they are very pigmented and have a nice soft creamy feel to them.

The pigment in the lipsticks is good although some colors did need two applications as they were quite sheer. They seemed to dry quickly too which was great. After wearing them all day, they stayed on most of the day and there was no color transfer with eating and drinking either.

The original lip kits from Makeup Revolution did have a sticky feel to them which a lot of people didn't like. The brand then reformulated them to get rid of the stickiness. I do love it when a brand listens to it's customers and improves a product. The only downside to them is that they do feel slightly dry on the lips which is a bit annoying. They weren't too dry to the point of being unwearable, but they were a bit uncomfortable.

Makeup Revolution Ultra Cool Glow Highlighter Palette

I really love highlighters right now, especially palettes. One budget brand I like to use is Makeup Revolution and the other month they released a new palette called Ultra Cool Glow. It features 8 highlighters in some really awesome shades such as mint green and lilac. I love fun colored highlighters so when I saw this palette I knew it was right up my street.

While the colors look great, I did think that the packaging could have been a lot better. It does feel a bit on the flimsy side, but for £8.00 you can't really go expecting high quality packaging.

I absolutely love colored highlighters and in this palette I really was spoilt for choice. My favorites were the mint green, lilac, purple and blue colors. The pigment was good but it could have definitely been better as some colors did need building up. Pigment wise the best shades were the yellow and peach.

Even though it wasn't on the same level as Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kits, this still isn't a bad product and is definitely worth checking out.

Makeup Revolution Dark Reign Palette

The Dark Reign Eyeshadow Palette is a limited edition eyeshadow palette that Makeup Revolution have brought out for Halloween. It features 8 matte and 8 shimmery shades in colors that really stand out from browns to purples. The matte shades are identical to the shimmers, the only difference being the finish on the colors.

After using both the mattes and the shimmers, I definitely think that the shimmers are better. The mattes were a bit on the dry side. As for pigment, I did think both matte and shimmer could have had some more pigment in them as I had to build the colors up to get them intense.

While the pigment wasn't the strongest, I did find that once on, the colors stayed on without creasing.

For someone like me who loves colors that stand out, this palette was great. If you are more of a natural person you won't like this palette at all.

Makeup Revolution Ghost Lights Highlighter

It's now October and Makeup Revolution have released a range of Halloween products. I saw the range in Superdrug and got a few items, one of them being this awesome highlighter with a Halloween friendly name - Ghost Lights.

Apart from the amazing color (I will talk about that a bit later) it has this skull design in the actual product. I love how Makeup Revolution have made the product really spooky looking by designing it like that.

Now for the color. It's described as an iridescent pearlescent white highlighter with a pink shift when reflected against light. It may be a Halloween product but I see no reason why this can't be used any time of year. I love highlighters that have a good amount of pigment in them and this one is great. You don't have to use a lot of it either to get the color to show up.

I just love the glow this one gave my skin. If you love highlighters I do recommend this one.

Makeup Revolution Midnight Unicorn Palette

Last week I was in Superdrug and noticed that Makeup Revolution had a limited edition range of Halloween products out. Yes, it's October already and Halloween is not far away. I'm a big fan of eyeshadows and I saw that Makeup Revolution had some new ones out, one of them being called Midnight Unicorn.

The Midnight Unicorn palette features 16 shimmer eyeshadows in colors that really stand out. If you are more of a natural eyeshadow person this palette isn't for you. For people like me who love intense colors, this palette is right up your street.

If you love your color it can be hard to decide where to start when you have so many amazing ones in front of you. My favorite colors are pinks, purples and blues so I ended up creating different looks with those sorts of colors. There was a good amount of pigment in them apart from one of the purple shades which I thought didn't have much pigment at all. All of the other colors were fine and blended nicely too. Another great thing is they didn't crease either and stayed on all day.

Makeup Revolution Soph Eeyeshadow Palette

Makeup Revolution is a budget brand I really like and have very recently released a new eyeshadow palette. It's a collaboration between Sophie from SophDoesNails and Makeup Revolution. In the palette are 14 matte and 10 shimmers in a wide range of colors from natural to dramatic.

Most of the colors are guaranteed to give you a look that really stands out, although if you prefer something more natural you could create a look that you like too. As I love colors that are very intense. I was spoilt for choice with this palette. Although the matte shades were great I preferred the shimmers as I love a bit of sparkle. I did think the mattes were a bit on the dry side and did come out a bit powdery. The shimmers were much better and had a good amount of pigment in them and blended nicely. Although not pigmented on the same level as brands like Urban Decay, for £10.00 this is a rather good palette.

New Highlighters From Makeup Revolution

One budget brand I love to use is Makeup Revolution and they have recently brought out some new highlighters. Highlighters are my must have product at the moment and I love to try new ones. New to Makeup Revolution are Skin Kiss, Rainbow and Gradient Highlighters.

Rainbow and Gradient Highlighter

The Gradient Highlighter comes in a few different shades. The one I went for was in the color Rose Quartz. It looks more like a blusher and is designed to be both a blusher and a highlighter. The color looks great and gives my cheeks a really nice glow. I used this one as more of a blusher rather than a highlighter. The different shades can be used individually or swirled around to create one unique color.

The Rainbow Highlighter is this super colorful product that is designed to actually look like a rainbow. I'm quite a fan of Rainbow highlighters and I have the Unicorn Highlighter from Makeup Revolution's sister brand I Heart Makeup. With this one I swirled my brush around in the color to create a unique glow, although the colors can be used individually too.

The Rainbow Highlighter and the Gradient Highlighter were £4.00 each.

Ice Kiss, Golden Kiss, Peach Kiss

The Skin Kiss Highlighters come in three different shades Ice Kiss, Golden Kiss and Peach Kiss. They are a really good size product too and have a good amount of pigment in them. They seem to build up nicely too and give the skin this amazing glow. These were £5.00 each.

Makeup Revolution make some great products and they are always bringing out new ones. For the price these ones are quite good too.

Makeup Revolution Revoholic Lips Palette

Makeup Revolution have brought out a lip palette called Revoholic Lips. I've never seen this brand bring out a lip palette before and the colors in it do look interesting. There is something to suit everyone with a mixture of nudes, reds, pinks and purples. The colors are laid out in this really interesting design too.

I got this palette free in Superdrug as I had spent over £12 on Makeup Revolution products. I'm not sure how much it is to buy separately. There are three palettes in the Revoholic range - eyes, lips and cheeks. I have the eyeshadow palette already, the only one out of the three I don't have is the cheeks.

To apply the colors I used my Illamasqua lip brush. The colors had a nice creamy feel to them and did need a bit of building up as they did come out sheer at first. Whilst these are not the worst lipsticks I have tried, they aren't the best either. But for drug store makeup they are quite good. I did like the color choice as people who love their nudes will find something they like, as well as more dramatic people like myself. If you love colors that stand out this palette offers a good choice.

Once on they stayed on for a bit, but did need reapplying as most of the color did come off throughout the day.

I think it's great that Makeup Revolution have now brought out a lip palette. Hopefully they will be bringing out a lot more.
