Purple Lips With NYX

When it comes to makeup I'm a big fan of purple shades. Eyeshadows, blushers, lipsticks, nails. I just love purple. Especially cooler tones. When I was backpacking around Europe I managed to do a bit of shopping and grabbed two lipsticks from NYX.

I'm a fan of NYX after trying their products a few years back. They have a fantastic product range to choose from and they have some amazing colors too. They aren't expensive either and are very affordable. I got an Extra Creamy Lipstick in the shade Power and a Butter Lipstick in the shade Daydreaming. Power is a blue toned mauve, while Daydreaming is a pale purple.

Both look amazing on and have a good amount of pigment in them. Later on in the day they did need reapplying as they did start to fade a bit. Both had a creamy texture and went on my lips nice and smooth. The Butter Lipstick did seem to be the more creamier product out of the two.

I just love these sorts of colors for my lips as they look amazing on. Out of the two I didn't have a favorite as I liked the look of both.

New Pink Lipsticks I Have Tried

Pink or pink purple is my must have lipstick color. The other week when I was shopping I decided to get some new products to add to my collection. I stopped at NARS, NYX and Urban Decay and found some colors that I just loved. Here is what I bought.

My first stop was Urban Decay and I noticed that they still had a lipstick from last year's Jean Michel Basquiat collection. I loved this collection when I saw it as the packaging was super creative and the colors on offer were just amazing. From that collection I bought the two eyeshadow palettes, but didn't get any lipsticks. 

The color I got is called Exhibition is is this awesome medium pink purple color and has a comfort matte finish. I love how they packaging is themed to the collection too. The pigment is just insane and glides on easily. It may be a matte but doesn't actually feel like a matte. I do like the Urban Decay Comfort Matte finish.

NYX Super Cliquey Lipstick

 At NYX I decided to get one of their Super Cliquey Lipsticks. I've seen these every time I have gone past the NYX counter and have always wanted to try them. They have a matte finish to them and come in a range of colors. They actually look like a marker pen and instead of twisting them like regular lipsticks, you press the bottom and the color comes up. The color I got is called Chain Reaction and is a bright berry color.

They have a good amount of pigment in them but can be drying and a bit uncomfortable to wear. The dryness can be avoided if you put a lip balm on first, but even then they can still feel a bit dry. They do manage to stay on for most of the day.

NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil

At John Lewis, I stopped by the NARS counter and got one of their Velvet Matte Lip Pencils in the color Pussy Control which is a lilac shade. I tried these lip pencils some time ago and thought they were very good. They are more like a lip crayon and are very pigmented. Even though they are a matte they glide on very smoothly to your lips and stay on for most of the day too.

I've really liked wearing these colors as they look great on. If you love these sorts of shades, then you should get them too.

NYX In Your Element Wind Palette

For Christmas, Santa brought me one of NYX's In Your Element Palettes. As I love cool tones such as blue and purple I got the In Your Element Wind Palette which features 12 eyeshadows in mainly shimmers. If you love purple and blue, you will want this palette as the colors are amazing.

Apart from the amazing color choice, another great thing that I love about this palette is the actual packaging. The packaging on the palette has artwork on it too and not just the box packaging it comes in.

If you love colors that stand out this palette will be perfect for you. I created two different looks with the colors and had a lot of fun blending them together. The pigment in the colors is great and they stay on all day without fading or creasing. Even the two matte shades that are in the palette weren't too powdery either.

NYX Faux Whites

When it comes to eye makeup I love using a brightener on my bottom lash line. This year NYX have released a product called Faux Whites. They are basically white eyeliners with a hint of colors. There are 8 available in a good choice of colors.

Colors are - Seashell (Pale Pink), Linen (Pastel Peach), Vanilla (Pastel Yellow), Honeydew (Pastel Lime Green), Mint Cream (Seafoam), Baby Powder (Pale Blue), Lavender Blush (Pale Lavender) and White Smoke (Periwinkle).

I love to use these in the corner of my eyes to make them stand out. The pigment in these is very good and they have a nice creamy texture too. No need to push down or tug as the color shows up really easy. They don't fade either and stay on all day.

NYX Suede Matte Lip Liners

I'm a big fan of NYX's lip products, especially their Liquid Suedes. They come in a range of colors from naturals to really crazy colors. For a while there were no matching lip liners. Sure, you could probably find a lip liner from their other range of liners, but for the colors like blue and purple an eyeliner had to do.

Very recently NYX released a full range of lip liners to match the lipsticks, called Suede Matte Lip Liners. The even have the same color names as them. Boots in Cardiff had quite a few in and I bought all of the ones that matched the lipsticks. On the NYX website there are more colors that weren't available in store. Here are the ones I bought.

The pencils have a good amount of pigment in them and apply nicely to the lips. Some lip liners you have to tug or press down to get the color to show, these ones you don't need to tug at all as the color goes on nicely. They don't feel at all dry either.

The colors match the lipsticks very well and I'm really glad NYX have released matching liners for the lipsticks. I have all of the Liquid Suedes and I do want to get the rest of the lip liners to match them.

NYX Duo Chromatic Illuminating Powder

I just love highlighters right now and I'm a very big fan of glowing skin. There are many different highlighters on the market right now and I just love trying out different ones. When I was shopping at NYX I noticed that they had these ones called Duo Chromatic Illuminating Powders.

They are available in 5 different colors and are described as a silky powder that blends like a dream for a fresh faced look. At £9 each the colors look amazing and the ones I got were - Twilight Tint (White Base With Blue Duo Chromatic Pearl), Lavender Steel (Soft Lavender With Pink And Lavender Duo Chromatic Pearl) and Snow Rose (White Base With Pink And Lilac Duo Chromatic Pearl).

Each color gave my skin this awesome glow and out of them all I didn't have a favorite as they all looked amazing. The pigment in them all was very good and they had this really nice soft blendable texture to them. I really don't like highlighters that feel chalky or powdery and these ones were the complete opposite and felt amazing to apply.

As the pigment in them was so good, I didn't need to use a lot to get them to show up and once on they didn't at all fade.
