Chanel Perfection Lumiere Foundation

I decided to try a new foundation as I was need of a new one and went for Perfection Lumiere by Chanel. I much prefer a liquid foundation to a cream one as I find that a liquid sits better on my skin. It does get dry, so a cream one always goes patchy on me.

The packaging is great as it comes in a good sized bottle with a pump, allowing you to take as much as you need out.

The coverage is medium to full and I find the best way to apply this one is with a flat foundation brush. Different foundations, I've found apply better in different ways. With this one I've found that the brush does make it go on a lot better. I'm not a fan of beauty blenders and buffing this one in is no good either. I do like a full coverage so this one is great for me.

The finish is matte, although I do sort of prefer a dewy finish. To make it more dewy I did mix my illuminator in with it to give it a bit of a glow. The color I got in this one is called 20 - Beige. It's just the right color for me and doesn't make me look at all orange. I do hate it when paler foundations end up being too dark and making me look like Madge Harvey from Benidorm. Seriously that woman is just too orange.

This did manage to stay on my skin for around 12 - 13 hours before it did start to go patchy. Throughout the day it did look nice on, but later on I wasn't really fussed on it when it went patchy. If you are an all day foundation wearer like me and love to wear foundation into the evening, I would suggest reapplying it to give a fresh look.

While this is a good foundation, I wouldn't say it was the best I've tried. I will continue to use it, but i'm not sure if I would re buy it.

  1. I love how honest you were with this review. I've been guilty of purchasing high-end items because of their name and they ended up being very subpar.

    1. Thanks. I've found it can be hit and miss. You get some expensive brands have not great items. The worst foundation I have tried is Illamasqua Skin Base it is just a small bit cheaper than this one, but it's absolute rubbish. Skin Base only stayed on my face for 5 hours before it looked a complete mess x

  2. I know people rave about this but sometimes I wonder if it's cos it's high end and a luxe item. I appreciate the honesty that's what blogging is about. X

  3. I think your skin looks great in the picture, it looks like the foundation provides good coverage and the colour looks great. It's too bad it doesn't last as long as you would like it to without becoming patchy.

  6. I am not a big fan of foundations, and am quite picky with what I use as to how it feels on my skin, so I do read these posts looking for something new to try, I have not tried Chanel before x

  8. I haven't tried this one but I have the Aqua version and I loved that one. Perhaps you'd find one of their other options might suit you better. Although I do think some high street options are just as good

    1. I haven't tried the aqua version. By high street i take it you mean drugstore. I've found that all drug store foundations are bad color wise, they either oxidize or don't do colors pale enough for me x

  13. This foundation really suits you! I like how it looks on. I tried a chanel foundation that you get in a magazine and it was in beige, which is very orange for me, but then again I just wanted to try the coverage and did like it on x

  14. I always enjoy your posts esp the look at the end! Also I didn't know different fooundations had a "best" technique of putting it on in terms of brush. I thought it just depended on if it's liquid or powder

  15. Your skin looks beautiful with this foundation!! But you're right, Chanel is not the best I've purchased. I found it to be a little harsh on my sensitive skin. Great review!

    1. It's not as long wearing as I hoped it would be. Dior Forever lasts at least 16 hours and doesn't start to go patchy later in the day either x
