South Wales Bloggers Pre Christmas Tea

Today I went to an event organized by South Wales Bloggers. It was basically a meet up of us bloggers from the South Wales area at the Pettigrew Tea Rooms in Cardiff. The event was a ticketed event and was £10.00. The price included afternoon tea. At the event was a guy from Barnardo's who would give you a £5.00 Argos voucher if you donated a toy.

Pettigrew Tea Rooms is a small tea rooms located by Bute Park next to Cardiff Castle. They do a range of different tea and cakes in a really nice cosy atmosphere.

There was plenty of tea to choose from on the menu. I decided on a pot of Earl Grey. Tea was served in a nice big pot, the proper way with leaves and a tea strainer. I always prefer leaves over a tea bag, plus at the end you get leaves at the bottom of your tea cup which is great for people who like to read their leaves.

Loads of cakes and pastries got brought out. There was plenty to choose from, savory and sweet.

I can't remember what all of the cakes were. From what I remember there was scones, bara brith, these parma violet marshmallows and some savory items. All of the items were freshly homemade. I don't normally like the taste of Parma Violets but didn't mind the taste of the marshmallows. I just wasn't fussed on the texture, they weren't the normal texture of marshmallows. I enjoyed all of the other items, you can't beat homemade cakes. The parma violets also contained gelatine which makes them not suitable for veggies. I didn't know they had gelatine in them until I had started eating them.

Outside, there was giant pumpkin which for £1.00 you could guess the weight to win a prize. Money would be donated to Bobath.

Everyone at the tea was given a goodie bag full of all different things. Various companies added different items for us. All of the goodie bags looked nice and festive and I had fun looking through seeing what was in mine. There was some Percy Pigs, Raisins in Dark Rum from Marks And Spencer, jewelry from Argos, a Crabtree and Evelyn nail polish, coffee and more.

I enjoyed my tea and the meet at Pettigrew. Thanks LauraChantele and Gemma  for organizing the event.
